What is Tombstone Cemetery?


During ancient years, a lot of people died suddenly and unexpectedly and were hence buried nearby. Most of these people were soldiers or army men who died with their boots or shoes on themselves. Hence these cemeteries came to be known as “Boot hill” cemetery. The most famous was the Tombstone cemetery which was a made as a burial plot also called as tombstone’s boot hills. Tombstone Cemetery lies about 60miles southeast Tucson, Arizona. This cemetery was the burial place for town’s first pioneers and establishers but was opened to all in 1884.  The information about the deceased is checked and rechecked through various sources. 


Headstones are a slab of stones held at the head or top of the grave which generally includes the name of the dead person, date of birth, date of death or any prayer. A headstone is also called a gravestone or a tombstone which is made of metals like iron, limestone, sandstone, slate and marble etc. Older tombstones would contain the life history of the deceased soul but modern tombstones only depict the name and dates of the person’s birth and death. These can be in the form of grave monuments, grave tombs, grave markers, grave columris, grave scriptures and grave lanterns etc
